Platycerium alcicorne 12cm pot €9.95
Platycerium alcicorne 12cm pot €9.95 Sold out

A most typical Stagshorn Fern ( indeed the species name alcicorne translates as elk's horn) from Madagascar, South East Africa, and the Seychelles. This species is ancient, about 150,000,000 years old (hence the geographical spread), which places it firmly in the Jurassic era.
Not too fussy in requirements, compost should be free draining. A weak liquid feed once a month should suffice. Grow in good light, but not direct sunlight. It is not hardy butsuitable for conservatories, or for outside growing in the summer after all risk of frost has passed. As well as being excellent for containers and larger living walls it also makes an excellent plant for a hanging basket. Fronds can grow quite large so could make an interesting conversation piece in good time!
